Clinical Supervision and Consultation
I am an Approved Supervisor with the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) and the Washington State Department of Health. I provide supervision for clinicians working toward licensure, as well as consultation for licensed therapists.
I am grateful to my mentors, and I aim to pass forward what was given to me to the next generation of clinicians.
My approach to supervision is systemic and integrative. I draw from a range of theories and models, with the understanding that how we work will depend on you as the supervisee and the unique clients you bring. I respect each clinician’s developing orientation while also offering additional perspectives to support growth and flexibility.
I encourage supervisees to be grounded in theory, as this can provide a sense of direction and stability—while also creating the freedom to work creatively and step into the unknown. At the same time, I emphasize the central importance of the therapeutic relationship, which may be the most significant factor in psychotherapy.
I am also interested in the person of the therapist. Supervision includes attention to self-awareness, use of self, and the development of your own therapeutic style. Part of the work is supporting you in growing confidence in your clinical judgment, trusting your developing wisdom, and finding your own path within the field.
In our work together, I may move between the roles of mentor, teacher, consultant, and administrator, depending on what is needed.
I also encourage supervisees to stay connected to their professional community and to make space for sustainability and self-care in their work. When helpful, I support working with additional supervisors to meet training goals, gain different perspectives, or deepen specific areas of expertise.
